On Sunday 21 June, Ulm University's Botanical Garden will be all about plants, biodiversity and experiencing nature. The popular summer festival offers a varied programme for the whole family, starting at 2 pm. At the same time, the exhibition “Wild Diversity in the Garden” will open, showcasing just how much life there is in our gardens. Entry is free!
The exhibition “Wild Diversity in the Garden”, which is on display for the first time at this year’s summer festival at the Botanical Garden in Ulm, demonstrates that botanical gardens are far more than just scientific plant collections. Information boards tell fascinating stories from meadows and ponds and highlight the fascinating animals, fungi and microorganisms that inhabit our gardens. The exhibition by the Association of Botanical Gardens is complemented by information sheets that present “wild corners” in the outdoor area as habitats for animals and plants, as well as practical tips for promoting biodiversity in your own garden.
As usual, the programme for the Botanical Garden’s summer festival is extremely extensive and suitable for young and old alike. Activities range from guided tours of the greenhouses and the medicinal herb garden, through a bonsai exhibition, sales and display stands run by the Donau-Iller Orchid Society, the Cactus Society and the Society for Carnivorous Plants, to the children’s programme organised by the BUND university group. The Ulm Natural History Museum is unveiling a new look for the Talking Tree Berti in the presence of the artist. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Ulm Botanical Garden e.V. with coffee and cake. The beer garden at the Botanikum will also be open.
Admission is free; the Botanical Garden welcomes donations.
