New Guest from South Africa

Ulm University

We welcome Dr. Marlon Oranzie at IABC!

Dr. Marlon Oranzie obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from the University of the Western Cape (UWC), Cape Town, South Africa, under the supervision of Prof. Emmanuel Iwuoha. His doctoral research focused on the development of electrochemical biosensors based on nanomaterials and aptamers for the detection of cardiovascular disease biomarkers, including B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and C-reactive protein (CRP).

He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the SensorLab, Department of Chemistry, University of the Western Cape, under the supervision of Prof Emmanuel Iwuoha. His current research focuses on the design and development of nanomaterial-based electrochemical biosensors, including aptasensors and immunosensors, for disease diagnostics. His work involves the synthesis and application of quantum dots, metal-organic frameworks, MXenes, and other functional nanomaterials for the detection of biomarkers associated with cardiovascular diseases, tuberculosis, and cancer.

During his research stay at the Institute of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry (IABC), Ulm University, hosted by Prof. Christine Kranz, he will investigate the integration of MoSeâ‚‚ quantum dots with scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) for the development of novel biosensing platforms for the detection of CXCL-10, a biomarker relevant to tuberculosis diagnostics.

His main research interests include electrochemical biosensors, nanomaterials, quantum dots, metal-organic frameworks, and point-of-care diagnostic technologies.
