At our faculty, you won't be lost in a crowd. There are no overcrowded lecture halls, no lengthy waiting lists for seminar places or dissertation supervision — and the personal atmosphere creates ideal conditions for learning. This is confirmed by the CHE Rankings of 2023 and 2026, in which we were ranked first among all public universities in Germany in the categories "Academic Support", "Study Support", and "Examination Organisation".

Active teaching is important to us. This is also reflected in the CHE Rankings for 2023 and 2026, in which we were named the best state university in the categories ‘Practical Orientation in Teaching’ and ‘Digital Teaching Content’. We therefore supplement our lectures and seminars with tutorials in the first few semesters. In two seminars, you will learn how to conduct academic research in small groups, and from the third semester onwards, you will actively apply your knowledge of economics, data science and AI to practical and academic problems in a project course. You will complete your degree with a Bachelor’s thesis under individual supervision, often in collaboration with a company.

Data science and AI are fascinating topics for economists. We offer an interdisciplinary approach that gives you a genuine understanding of the methodological foundations without losing sight of their application in economics. This concept, and in particular the core element ofthe ‘Data Science & Business Analytics Project Course’, has been recognised by the University of Ulm with the University Teaching Award.

Annika, Bachelor of Economics graduate
I love the lecturers, especially at my department, who put their heart and soul into their work. I felt at home straight away and quickly made friends thanks to the informal atmosphere. It makes studying so much more fun!
Simon, First choice economic viability graduate
I chose the Economics and Business Analytics profile subjects because I am convinced that a combination of economic knowledge and data-based analysis will help me to develop a deep understanding of the dynamics of companies and markets in order to be able to create sustainable added value in the economy myself. I also really enjoyed having the opportunity to maintain close contact with my lecturers in Ulm and to lead a varied student life at the same time.
